ReMotion is an $80, CE-marked polycentric knee joint designed for amputees living in the toughest of circumstances. Using durable, polymer-based materials with proven polycentric mechanism, instead of the typical steel or titanium, the ReMotion knee is designed to improve usability and manufacturability. It has simple, universal attachments to interface with standard prosthetic leg systems, is made up of five components and four standard fasteners and weighs less than 0.5 kg – one of the lightest knees on the market. The mobility offered by the ReMotion prosthetic knee supports amputees in doing what they love: enjoying an active social and family life, education, and career.
Polycentric four-bar knee enables a stable and natural gait. ReMotion’s design is resistant to buckling on heel-strike, and provides increased toe clearance to reduce chances of a patient tripping.
Made of long-lasting plastic and stainless steel, ReMotion works in the harshest and most demanding environments, withstanding heat, humidity, and dirt. ReMotion officially passed all ISO 10328 testing standard for lower-limb prosthetics, and has received CE mark. CE mark certificate is available upon request.
Improved aesthetics and design ensure amputees feel comfortable, confident, and secure wearing ReMotion.
Retails for a fraction of the cost of comparable prosthetic knee joints at <$80 USD.
There are approximately 1 million people with above-knee amputations living in low- and middle-income countries who do not have access to the prosthetic devices they need to live more independent and productive lives. Modern prosthetics are prohibitively expensive, and as a result, an estimated 80% of amputees in low-resource settings do not have access to modern prosthetics. Even if an amputee is able to pay, access to a prosthetics clinic that fits their needs is almost non-existent. Equalize Health has fit 777 amputees with ReMotion in 33 countries, 438 of whom otherwise would not have had access to a comparable prosthetic knee joint. The ReMotion knee has averted 259 DALYs (disability-adjusted life years).
Equalize Health (then D-Rev) spun off their ReMotion business to one of their most valued and long-time customers, the Range of Motion Project (ROMP), a non-profit rehabilitation network that provides high-quality prosthetic care to underserved populations.
